As a disclaimer, I haven’t read all these books, though they’re definitely going on my TBR list (what can I say, I loved Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hook).
What Is a Clean Pirate Romance Book?
First, what exactly do I mean by a “clean” pirate romance book?
Clean can mean various things, confusing readers who see the disclaimer. Clean usually means the content is acceptable for most audiences. It doesn’t have any explicit on-page sexual content, mild language, and tame on-page violence.
These books have all the fun of a pirate adventure without too much gore and sex.
6 Top Clean Pirate Romance Books
So, let’s dive right into the top six clean pirate romance books without delay!
1. Emerald of the Sea by Kimberly Pearl
This book gives readers Pirates of the Caribbean vibes as you follow the story of two strong female leads through piratey adventures and a slow-burn romance with all the necessary swoon.
This story has action, romance, and multiple points of view to keep you turning the page.
One character is a seventeen-year-old girl living on a merchant ship who ends up on the run with a handsome naval officer. Our other heroine lives in a large manor alongside her only friend, a boy who works in the kitchen.
All characters’ lives become intertwined in an adventure that changes their future while unraveling secrets from their past.
2. Steel by Carrie Vaughn

3. Held Captive by Grace A. Johnson
This is the first installment of the Daughters of the Seven Seas series. Our heroine is a notorious pirate captain who falls into the hands of a ship captain in search of the long-lost daughter of the Duke of Rothsford.
Romance and secrets flow throughout this story as you enjoy the fun and swoony ride across the seven seas.
If you’re looking for a pirate romance that ties in with Christian morals, this is a must-add to your list.
4. The Assasin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
This is the first book in The Assasin’s Curse series.
This book combines fantasy elements into a pirate romance. The story follows our strong-willed heroine who would rather run away alone than face a forced marriage into another pirate clan.
However, her escape doesn’t go as planned as she ends up in a curse, tying her to the very same assassin who came to kill her.
This pirate fantasy has a slow-burn romance. While the first book only hints at a romance, you’ll definitely want to pick up the second book in the series, The PIrate’s Wish to see more flirtations and romantic tension mixed in with the swashbuckling of a pirate and assassin adventure.
5. Red Siren by MaryLu Tyndall
Dive into this 1718 adventure from Charleston and the first installment of the Charles Town Belles. It has romance, sword fights, and pirates–what more could you ask for?

Kieran Ashford, the handsome privateer, is on a journey to redemption from the mistakes he has made as a privateer. Part of his journey includes marrying Deirdre to protect her. Except, Deirdre has plans of her own.
This is another Christian pirate romance to add to your list with a strong female lead who will sweep you off your feet with her adventures and romance.
